I've been thinking about ordering a Westcott 28" Apollo.
The one flaw in the design which is mentioned a lot though is the tilt angle. While researching solutions I came across the Smick Ezy Up softbox which has addressed the problem with an included extra bar. It's also a lot cheaper.

Has anyone used one of these?
Any opinions welcome.

Looks pretty good to me, might even get one myself...

Looking closely at the photo, it looks like my Pocket Wizard Flex TT5 will not fit onto the hotshoe with the flash, I reckon spending an extra £30 on the Westcott Apollo might be a better buy - you buy cheap, you buy twice....

The easy way to get around the tilt problem with the Westcott is to simply put the stand through the bottom of the front opening rather than the normal slot.

That's what has stopped me buying it so far.

Yes I've seen that suggested a few places. Since you have experience with numerous different products Graham would you spend the extra for the Apollo if you had to buy a softbox tomorrow?

That's what I did do ;)

I notice there's a now a Chinese copy available now for quite a lot less (about £20 or so from HK), I've no experience of it however I think there's a thread about it somewhere on TP.

Thanks Graham I knew you had one, that's why I said if you had to buy tomorrow with the choices available right now. However I've just about convinced myself to buy the Wescott anyway.

It's £89 + £4 postage at Karlu.com, anyone know where it's cheaper? Most prices seem to be about £112

It's tempting because of its lightness and convenience but,
I already have two 60 x 60 lastolite boxes and can get S fit converters for speed lights for £30 each so my head and heart are arguing just now....

Thanks Kev, it was mainly due to your friends reviews on youtube that I was considering anything other than the westcott.
