Can anyone give me an idea of how much it would cost to buy a decent portable set up for use in the house for taking portrait shots of my family etc? and what equipment would be required.

Cheers

Dave

oh boy, what an open ended question...

I would suggest you explore the 2 head studio light kits from the likes of portaflash or interfit if you're on a budget. They will generally set you back £2-300 and work well as a starter kit. However, having said that you should really explore factors such as space, power (wattage), budget, and do some good research. It's all too easy to buy a kit that looks good but you will soon outgrow. Bowens is really good kit but comes at a premium price... I recall some kits on ebay have been recommended on this forum but you'll need to search to find the thread as I don't recall it.

One final bit of advice is consider kits which use industry standard S fittings if you plan to purchase items such as snoots, barn doors, and honeycombes.

Hope this helps point you in the right direction...

I don'y have anything myself but have been looking in to it for a while.

Take a look on eBay for the stuff from Lencarta. They have a 3x200Ws head kit that sells for about £400 delivered and includes a hell of a lot of kit including wireless trigger. There is a well respected photographer on here that has reviewed the stuff and can be seen in the eBay videos showing you the kit.
