Answer 30 out of 35 questions correctly before it allows you to start the engine!
But with these modern entry things I wonder how long that will be, before its embodied in the cars computer ?

it may be that he could have pulled over but it's also possible that he was keeping out of the left lane because he wasn't sure where it would take him. I don't do a lot of motorway driving and it can be confusing when you don't know the road and the left lane often leads to an exit.
You see that a lot, on some M-Ways, especially in rush hour, when the next exit is likely to be rammed with people trying to get off,4 lanes on M1 at Nottingham and still get dicks sitting in third and fourth lanes at 50-60 when nowhere near to overtaking any other vehicle.
I so hate that, although I hope this will never happen to them. You see that a lot, on some M-Ways, especially in rush hour, when the next exit is likely to be rammed with people trying to get off,
leave it to the last minute, and try and cut into the exit queue, and effectively blocking the 2 near-side lanes.
So I guess that's its the selfish, trying to avoid the selfish, as to the answer to that particular problem, I don't know what it is,
but for my part I've certainly no wish to be "forced" to join a queue, because is was shut in by slow moving traffic, I "go" for the outside lanes,
but at least I keep up with the traffic, if not be a leader that they all follow![]()
Ooookaaay!!
Just stay right where you are Steve....the van will be there shortly![]()
OUCH! I'm surprised that it doesn't happen (more) here, as I'm sure that it must,I so hate that, although I hope this will never happen to them.
When overtaking an HGV I would not pull into their "2 second gap" - in fact I'd probably allow a 3 to 4 second gap as I bet an HGV takes a good 100 metres to stop at 56mph which is more like 4 seconds. Anyone who pulls in close in front of an HGV has never seen the result of a car being hit by an HGV!A couple of times this year I have overtaken a truck and on trying to move back into the lane the truck was in, I have found someone else to my left overtaking the truck on the inside and trying to get into the same position I was aiming for.
Steve.
A friend of mine refers to a car in the gap as the meat in a sandwichAnyone who pulls in close in front of an HGV has never seen the result of a car being hit by an HGV!
Perhaps he was drunk, works wonders with me on the ski slopesAmazingly, the driver of that car sustained no serious injuries!![]()

This seems to be your standard, unpleasant response to anything you don't like.Indeed. What was I thinking. Shoot them in the face!!!!

The real pain using the inside lane correctly is that just about everyone else forms a queue behind in the centre lane without overtaking and when encountering a slower vehicle ahead cannot overtake because of the aforementioned queue. I once encountered "lane obstructed" on the M25, no one would let me move to the next lane and I was pulled over by a traffic cop because I was in "lane obstructed" I replied that if he wanted me to do so, would he assist? Its a real pain if your on the inside lane doing 70-75mph and someones tootling along in the middle lane doing 60 it happens a surprisingly lot of times. Im never really sure what your supposed to do in that situation, cut across to the outside lane to have to cut back inside?
You have filter signs overhead, countdown markers on the left side, and the lane markings change. If you can't tell when you're in a filter lane or slip lane, you shouldn't be on the motorway. I've seen people do stupid things when they realise they're in a filter/slip lane and suddenly decide to veer across the hatched area. It's dangerous driving.I don't do a lot of motorway driving and it can be confusing when you don't know the road and the left lane often leads to an exit.
I, and a few others I know, will go into the outside lane, overtake and return to the inside line. 30% of the time the middle lane hogger returns to the left hand lane. 70% of the time, they just stay where they are. Passing/overtaking in any lane IMO is more recipe for disaster but it might make people think a bit more about where they are and their surroundings.id prefer to see us style undertaking made legal - i do it myself sometimes rather than switching across 3 lanes
These drive me nuts. Roads that have been downgraded in speed. A "normal" 20/30mph road has obstacles, narrow lanes and other hazards that mean you're keeping an eye out for them. But there are some roads on the way to work that were NSL, then made 40 and then later made 30mph that make no sense - wide lanes, clear view, no obstacles - you could take them at 60mph. But I comply and stick the cruise control on. Some people stay behind, some overtake. The roads where I live have been changed to 20mph it's pretty hard to stick to it.
I've known to pull that manoeuvre on drivers who clearly haven't planned ahead. You're behind a lorry. You're closing in on it. You know at some point you will need to overtake. So why not do it safely, smoothly and early, rather than shoving your way into someone else's braking gap?Last time it happened I knew what the driver intended so I did close the gap, leaving him stuck behind the lorry we were over taking, seems others had the same idea
as he didn't get out for quite a while.
You know what? I'd pass 35/35 each and every time. It wouldn't stop me driving like an idiot. I used to think people had rubbish standards and would fail if they had to do a driving test there and then. But over the past few months, there have been more police cars on the road and what happens? People drive properly when there's a police car around. Most know how to drive properly. They choose not to.How about all cars having a test computer built in? Answer 30 out of 35 questions correctly before it allows you to start the engine!

??? No. I would do what you did which was to accelerate to stop the BMW driver pulling out. My comment was directed at people live the BMW driver - they should be watching the road ahead and planning. If the BMW driver knew he or she was going to overtake at some point, they should have done it earlier and not at the last minute.I hope you are not say you would undertake to pull out in front of me ?
This is what the BMW driver did. came up on the inside because there was a queue in the overtaking lane moving at speed to
get past the lorry, it was 4 lanes so I'm surprised he didn't undertake the lorry too, but then I couldn't see what was there

Isn't that the risk when you want to dispute something? Out of principle I couldn't tick the guilty box if I wasn't, but would have to to avoid the risk of paying much more. Whilst I understand the concept it also doesn't seem right.Did anyone notice this person was a professional knob
He managed to convert a £100 spot fine into a bill for £940
That in Yorkshire is a more serious crime than lane hogging, the person needs serious medical attention
If the driver wanted to contest it, why did they then not attend court?Isn't that the risk when you want to dispute something?
The driver of the van failed to attend court
Who knows? If the driver wanted to contest it, why did they then not attend court?

Probably stuck in the middle lane of the motorwayIf the driver wanted to contest it, why did they then not attend court?
Probably stuck in the middle lane of the motorway
If this law has been in force for 2 years how on earth is this the first person to be caught ????????
Surely he's not playing the racist card?
