Slow Backspace On iMac

A first world problem if ever there was one but here goes.

When I hold the backspace icon on my iMac it deletes letters/words at a snails pace. Is there any way to speed this up?

Select the area you wish deleted and then hit back space

system preferecnes -> keyboard -> check what current speed for key repeat

also some shortcuts, you can keep:

ALT + Backspace to delete whole words
CMD + Backspace to delete whole lines

Thanks for the shortcuts Andrius - the ALT+backspace will come in handy.

I'm at the maximum key repeat speed and it's still painfully slow. The shortcuts will help though!
