Hi,

I'm looking for some software for the Mac to make a photo slideshow DVD with some backing music and other audio files. Has anyone got any suggestions. I've tried using iMovie, but its just not good enough. I'm willing to spend a little bit of money, but don't really want to pay out of the nose for it.

I used to use Proshow Gold until I moved to Mac and they don't do a Mac version. I now use their web based program which lets you create shows up to 20 minutes long with transitions and audio. Lets you creat right up to Blu-ray. You can find it at www.web.photodex.com. Definitely worth a look.

Yea, I've gone with this. Looked good on the trial so thought 'b****r it' and went for it.

Been using it for years. Great piece of s/w. It used to be courageous to take an x.0 version but I bet it's stabilised now.

I've actually switched to Final Cut but if you never need movie editing or complex soundtracks, Fotomagico is probably a better bet.

I use Sony Vegas for mine. Not looked into any specific slideshow software though. I was considering dropping them all together as they are so boring to do!

What gets me is the number of couple who seem totally incapable of accessing their DVD player menu to play MP4 files!!

Tell me about it! Another question...... how many of you have had requests to supply a USB stick instead of a DVD? I've been surprised as to how many have asked me.

I offer usb, and it's slowly becomming more popular, particualry with youbger more tech-savvy couples.
More and more people don't have dvd players in their lounge because they download or rip films to a media server. Most people also have a smart tv these days which will take a usb without having to go through any other box of electrickery.

Definiely on the increase and it's cheaper than discs and a fancy package :)

I tried Animoto and really wasn't impressed with some of the limitations compared to Proshow web. I understand they've improved it but their whole marketing hype at the time just seemed to imply the product was much better than it was.
