Slideshow file format

Depends what they are going to play it on.

We now do all ours as MPeg 4 1080p HD.

Mpeg 4 normally but these days divx is a popular option better stick with mpeg 4 even though it's such a boring universal format

What will be playing it back? A computer or a DVD player?

In which case, you are limited to making MPEG2 "movies" at 720x576 (I think Windows movie maker can do this - never tried it but it seems to ring a bell) if you want full compatibility. Some DVD players play DivX and some will playback JPEGs but you will need to check with the client what they can handle. Do you have any particular software you are using? It might be worth googling "DVD slideshow <insert name of software>"
