Hey Everyone ... just a quickie do jessops do slide developing? i cant see it on there website and have been playing with my new mf camera that has 120 slide film
I've asked the mods to move this into the Film and Conventional section as you'll get better informed responses in there.
Jessops do slide developing but personally I would avoid it. They send it off to a lab and it takes at least 2 weeks for 35mm so I shudder to think how long it will for 120 as they quote 2 weeks for that as well! Both times that I used their slide service for 35mm it took 3 and half weeks and for the price it wasn't really worth it, they didn't even come back in a box, just those fiddly little sleeves (Not that you've got to worry about that with 120 as theres no mounts!). Processing quality was O.K with some minor marks/streaks on a few slides. The cost was about £6.00.
I subsequently switched to sending my slide films off to a pro lab, I initially used Peak Imaging which did fantastic quality processing with a very rapid turn around (3 - 4 days) and for only about £1.50 more than Jessops including all postage etc! I recently stopped using them however as they upped their prices (which were still very reasonable) but they moved dev and mount into the higher postage band so it was just too much.
Now I use 'The Darkroom' in Cheltenham, their exactly the same as Peak Imaging with a very rapid turn around, freepost address etc and the processing quality is superb. Even better the whole lot costs only £7.99 for 35mm dev and mount. With their current prices 120 E6 costs £4.90 including 1st class postage although you can pay extra for Special Delivery if you want to.
Hi Alex - another recommendation for Peak Imaging on quality basis - been a while since I used 'em, as I've started souping my own e6 these days, but they're definitely good. Another place that's excellent is CC Imaging in Leeds - they're great on quality, and as I live near enough to drop the film off in the morning and pick up later the same day, they're awfully convenient for me. And, if you shoot B&W they do a lovely job of proper silver gelatine wet prints
