At the moment I have 2 x 180w/s Prolite heads which I want to use to light my white vinyl background.
I am thinking of purchasing 2 x Elinchrom D-Light 400 for my main and fill lighting which have the built in Skyport triggering system.
My question is will the Skyport sytem also be able to fire my 2 Prolite heads.
Appreciate any help with all the advice taken on board.
Anyone using these lights at the moment and if so what do you think of them
Thanks
Dave

Do all the heads not have optical slave cells in them for triggering? No need for wireless apart from the main light which can then trigger the others?

To be honest, I dont know Derek, I'm a bit dumb when it comes to studio lighting.....what do you mean when you say optical slave cells please??
I have a wireless remote which fires the 2 Proline heads from my camera (if that helps)
Dave

Optical slave is just a small sensor that detects the light of another flash and triggers the head mate - most if not all studio heads will have it, and there's always a way to enable/disable it on the flash head itself.... just go look up the spec of your prolite heads and if it states optical slave you're sorted as the new heads will definitely have optical slave capability.... just find out how to enable/disable it and that's you sorted. Only one head with wireless trigger required.

Edit: Struggled to find them, so I'm guessing you mean Pro Line 180w heads, not Prolite? They have optical slave anyway mate.... see spec here.

PDF manual for them here just in case you don't have one.... the photo cell switch (as they call it) is No 4 on the pic below.... switch on and you're good to go... so, wireless on main head, switch on this option on the other three heads, and that's it....:D

WOW!! many thanks Derek, firstly, sorry, yes, meant Proline and secondly, I dont have a PDF Manual so that has help me a lot.
Appreciate your detailed explanation and help on this one. I must start to get use to this terminology
Thanks again
Dave
Edit - just checked my heads and they are different from the diagram - mine must be an older version since I have had them for about 2 years. The photo cell is on the top but there does not appear to be a switch to enable/disable it.

Dave - there must be some way of switching the cell on/off? Drop the UK distributor a line if you can't find it.

Glad it got you going in the right direction anyway....
