I been told i need a pc1 cable to connect anyone know where to buy one in Derbyshire / staffordshire

You should be able to get one from any local camera shop. It's a pretty common cable.
 
no one keeps them in calumet- jessops etc but flash centre do.
 
I use a screwlock PC version as I really like the more secure fitting to the flash. I got mine from Speedgraphic I think though they don't seem to list them anymore. Here's a link to the same thing on Ebay though.
