Hi

I think my sky HD box is on the blink. keeps freezing and not switching channels and in general a pain in the ass.

If I buy a new one can I just swap the cards over from th old one to the new one and it will work ok??? or is it more complicated than that????

You might have to call sky to pair the card with the box.

Yeah You will have to call them to let them know though, else there may be a few issues.

'No satellite signal being received'

Have you tried phoning them to tell them it's broke? If they want to charge you; threaten to leave.

I have an HD box for sale as it happens :D

yeah that doesnt work, my sister tried that when the old non-hd box nearly caught fire. they either ask you to pay for a new one or pay for a warranty which will get you a new box and cover for x months.

Just been to the local sky dealer over here and he wants £200 for a new box, been on amazon and they are £132 so thats why i asked if I could just swap it over.

Thats good news then, new box then phone them.

Can I use the same controller?? as alot of the boxes for sale you have to buy a controller too, but I already have one.

oh thanks for all the advice too

I'm assuming you've tried resetting it, turn it off at the wall for a couple of mins, keep your finger on the back up button on top of HD box and switch on at wall keep finger on backup button until all of the front lights up and it re downloads the software for the box. you dont lose your planner or any recorded programmes.

STAFF EDIT : Please don't make offers to sell outside of the classifieds.
If you want to start a "For Sale" thread for it then you're welcome to point the OP towards that

Thanks.

Go into the Installers Menu - services,0,0,1,select and from there you can do a planner rebuild (which fixes things like audio going out of sync, live pause not working etc) to a full reset. If HDD is functioning fine this should fix your problems. I need to do a planner rebuild on mine very couple of months, even more frequently if I fill it up completely.

Spike,
Press Services on your Sky remote, press 0, 0, 1, then Select fairly quickly and it should take you to the Installers menu. Look for the Rebuild option.
