Sky FreeSat or Freeview

Wanted to replace my Sky Subscription with some FTA (Free to Air) but could not decide weather to go with Sky's Freesat or Freeview.

With Freesat I can use the same Sky+ box and pay a one time viewing card fee of 20 quids.

With Freeview I already have an old Freeview box but may go and buy one with a HDD.

Any wise advise suggestions guys?

If you have a sky box and have just cancelled your subscription then you already have freesat m8, your existing card while it will no longer get you pay channels is still ok for the 'free but scrambled' ones like ch4 and ch5

With your Sky box, you can just wait a week or two after you cancel, and your sky card turns into a FreeSkySat card (Thats right, you dont need to pay the 20 quid).

However, on the next card upgrade, it will stop working. Dunno when one is due though, but for nothing, its better than a kick in the teeth.

I have freesat, and am quite happy with it. I dont have a viewing card (yet) so I dont get CH4 and CH5.

If you are coming from sky you will probably prefer the Sky EPG and the easy way you flick through channels.

In terms of channel choice there isnt much in it, except sky is the only one with Men & Motors, and freeview is the only one with Dave.
