Site review

My main job is web design so I will tell you the changes I would make:

- Get a logo. You don't need to spend money jusy use a nice font.http://www.1001fonts.com/. It looks like you have just choosen a font thats on your computer, take your time, a font can show your 'image'. The font you have choosen would be perfect if you only photographed kids as it has that feel.

- Main page. Move the image above the text, when people come onto your website they want to see images. Instead of 1 why not a line of 3 images?

- Make the 'header' a lot more intresting

Give me 10 minutes i'll knock something up of what I think it should look like

Just a bit or rearranging and I it looks a lot more appealing and professional (well I think it does). Also don't centre text, left align looks better and use as many images as possible. eg. make a special offer banner in Photoshop, it will make the special offer stand out more

I also think it would be good if the 'header' image changed when on different pages, so on the wedding page use a wedding image etc. If you do redesign post it back on the forum for us to see. Good luck :-)

for some reason your pages are all out of alignment.

i.e. when you go from home to about the whole page shifts to the right. then back to the left for portraits. same with other pages.

id make a template page then use that for every page so the base layout is identical.

I've never noticed that, I'll have a look. Thanks for letting me know

I think it's because some pages have centered text, will address that shortly :-)

What software have you used the site?

Your sites isn't indexed in Google.....

http://websitegrader.com/site/www.coleyturnerbrown.co.uk/

Changing how the site looks won't fix people not finding it. Get it found first.

Look for search engine optimization (SEO) tools for the software you have used or consider changing software.

If you haven't signed up with Google analytics and webmaster tools, this will help you analyse the site along with the websitegrader.com website.

You need to fix the internals of the site, get it listed in Google. Get links to your site from other websites, so if there are sites with lists of photographers, get on there. The more sites that link to yours the higher your site will appear in Google.

From what I see, it is indexed, I an signed up with analytics and we get crawled regularly. All pages are indexed.

I have done quite a fair but of SEO over the last couple of months and am setting up lots of links

If you search for your site on Google, how many different pages from your site can you find?

For some reason the website grader shows no pages are indexed by search engines.

My companies site (which is rather large) has 312 pages indexed by google (scores 81 on website grader) which really helps people find the site.

I've not seen the software you've used for the site, so no idea how well google can trawl through your site, but it can't be doing a very good job as looking at the site, you have the right information on each page, you have a page per product/area etc. But it doesn't seem to be picked up by google.

Focus on getting your website higher in webgrader, perhaps ask the people who do the software why the pages aren't indexed by google.

Thanks for that, would internal links between pages help?

Dont worry about tools like Website Grader, there are hundreds of tools available like this on the Internet all will give you mixed results depending on how often that software spiders the Internet. Time is the key. To help create a sitemap and an xml sitemap for google (search for a tool to do this for free). This will help the spiders know which of your pages are important and the structure of your site.

Also see you have changed the design, I think it is a good improvement!

Thanks, xml sitemap and sitemap have both been created and submitted.
