Like so many more on here my camera does not seem to see the light of day (or night) as much as it should, so I have decided that rather than spending my hours reading the thousands of posts a week on TP I should get actively "snapping" again.

As my working week usually finishes on a Saturday, my weekend is effectively Sun & Mon, so I may be working a little behind everyone else (playing catch up before I start) but hey, will have a go.

Having pounded the streets this morning looking for a suitable subject and failing miserably, I returned home to see my daughter playing with her dolls house, and with the front of the house open spotted what I thought was a rather nice shadow so here is my take on this weeks theme of Accommodation:

Cheers Mark - I'm sure with all the encouragement on here we will manage to complete - at least most of the rounds

simple yet effective, like it very much.

Michael - "simple yet effective" just about sums me up really

Thanks for your comments

Hiya Simon,

I'm trying to do some catch up on viewing and commenting on the 52'ers threads, so apologies for not getting to you sooner.

Week 1: I really like this, a different perspective to the doll house, I can see why you liked the shadow, it works well here. The angle at which you have taken the shot gives it a very realistic feel and to me it looks like you were on a rooftop looking down on a very pink building. A very clear shot ...Well done!

Week 2: Absolutely stunning! The whites are perfect and the whole image is pin sharp. They way you have it set agains the black background compliments the image well. An excellent take on the theme. Daffs are my favourite flowers, and I can't wait to see them popping up in the spring.

Good luck with the rest of the project and I look forward to seeing your photo for the next theme.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Two nice shots keep up the good work ..

Thanks for the kind comments and encouragement guys - much appreciated

Thanks Ian and Lynne for your comments.

was not sure which picture to post this week so have posted all 3 that I like. would appreciate any feedback and which one you prefer.

to me, real style is timeless hence my take on this weeks theme.

Sometimes it's handy to have a friend who has a second hand jewellery shop :)

Thanks for looking

Simon.

First one does it for me,
It's clean, uncluttered, and I love the radiating outwards grain on the metal.
The second one, I can just see the scratches, and the third looks a bit busy for me, especially with the hub for the hands...
(but they're all miles better then I would get!!)

go on, how much was it going for?

No.1 for me, I like it

Thanks for the replies, I must admit No1 is my favourite for the reasons you state, just wasn't sure if it was enough "watch" for the theme.

how much ? to be honest, it was new (second hand) stock just in, it wasn't actually priced when I saw it, and I didn't ask cos I knew I wouldn't be able to afford it, and if I knew, I probably wouldn't be able to hold the camera steady to take the shot

I like the 2nd and it wouldn't be that tricky to PP out the glass marks and the scratches. What would have been really cool would be a slightly longer exposure to get the hand sweeping across.

Absolutely, although you get more motion blur on it which kindof adds to the sweeping effect.

well I think 3!
i think a slightly tighter crop top and bottom would help it.
For me number 1 is a bit ambiguous.

Simon,

I love the first weeks shot of the windows casting the shadow. Great image.

Week two is a good shot just not my cup of tea. Lovely and sharp though.

This weeks themed image has to go to the first of the three. Didn't need the other two as the first said it all. I love the effect too!

Keep up the good work.

Wow - thanks for all the feedback here, it really is amazing how people see images so differently, and what one person likes another dislikes, I have to say after much consideration I think I prefer the first one.

Without having too much time on my hands this evening, and with very poor lamplight, I did manage to find half an hour to try some longer exposure shots as suggested, it was MUCH more difficult than I expected, and the results were VERY poor imo, however, and without much framing but a bit of cropping, I did manage to get this one shot of the sweeping second hand as requested.

I am fully aware that the focus isn't completely right, nor the lighting, and the hands really needed to be in a better position, however it was the best I could offer in the time and light available.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment
Simon.

Now thats cool, you've also identified your own bad points so no need to mention but I think its brill.

Thanks for looking

Simon.

loving the composition of #1, but it looks a touch soft. A close crop maybe?

your final image for me is the winner (the ticking second hand), how did you take it? handheld? lovely how you have captured the second hand...just a shame the rest of the image looks like the camera has moved during the exposure.

keep it up though, excellent so far!

Yep, first one. simple and too the point. everyone knows Rolex..

No.1 shot for week 3 is my favourite of the three and your sweeping second hand shot is well worth your time and effort - great shot.

Hiya Simon,

Wow what a great take on the theme. I love all the images, though if I had to choose a fav it would have to be the first one because of the simplicity, the blue colour and the way the lines draw the eye.

I also like the one with the second hand ticking. You have given me an idea for a pic for my 365 for today, thanks.

Looking forward to seeing the progress of your Photo52.

Cheers

Dawn :)

the detail and lighting works really well, no 1 is my favourite too :)
