Hi all,

I'm after a little advice on where to buy my first dlsr from
The camera i intend to buy is a Nikon D5100 which is for sale at Simplyelectronics for £569.
Has anyone any experience of dealing with them? I'm a little nervous of spending so much money on line when i could go to currys and pay £620 and have one handed to me. But a saving of £50 would be nice, very nice!

What would you do?

I always buy cameras and lens from my local shop, I may pay a bit more, but if I get a problem it is easy to take back.

A search of simplyelectronics on there may delay your decision to buy from there, alternatively do a google search on reviews of said company, again you may wish to reconsider.

There fine until you need to claim on your warranty, then they are useless!

My 50D developed a problem under warranty and it took them two months to get it fixed and back to me and I had to chase them the whole time to get updates!
 
Have a look on camerapricebuster to see if there are other alternatives.
 
I bought a nikon 18-200 vr lens from them and as the post a few above says dont expect next day, it will take around 1-2 weeks and if your a chaser upper, you will get pretty annoyed at slow responces, however, what you ordered will arrive, uk version and you will have saved a little money, i geuss it just depends if the £50 saving is worth the 2 weeks wait?

good luck, why dont you email before you order asking if the item is REALLY in stock (not just saying that on the website), then you will have an email to workl from if they respond
 
Based in Honk Kong, I ordered 2k worth of cameras a few years back and then realised they would be grey imports. Had to wait for over 3 weeks for a refund. Spare the £50 notes and be confident it came from the local shop ;)
