In the past I've used all sorts of flash triggers - YNs, Cactus, PixelKings etc.

It strikes me that the ones I like best are the ones that are simple, reliable and easy to use.

So, given my wish list (below), what's on the market that matches my requirements.

1. Remote power control for each flash
2. A physical dial to control flash power - no bloody menus
3. Physical buttons rather than bloody menus
4. No need for ETTL
5. Powered by AA batteries
6. Canon compatible
7. Capable of controlling a range of flashes e.g. Canon and YN

None. Physical dials have mostly been uninvented, though Pocket Wizard's AC3 remote controller has three nice dials but fails your other requirements.

Cactus V6 comes closest I think, but not used them http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/shop-by-brand/cactus.html For a manual exposure system with remote control, YN 560 guns and matching triggers are good (also see new RF605 transceiver unit just announced) . Basic good/fast all-manual triggers, no remote control, are YN 603 MkII. But in view of your other thread, YN 622 is probably the best solution, keeping all options open.

Or Phottix Odin, more money, but v nice user-interface. In fact, if I was starting again with a decent budget, I think I'd just get a set of Phottix Mitros+ guns and be done with it - they have the Odin trigger system built in. And also thinking about your other thread, Phottix has just announced a very nice looking 500Ws IGBT studio-type head with battery option, also using the Odin control system. It's the only fully integrated flash system that takes you from speedlites to studio heads, indoors or outdoors. Bit of an unknown quantity but looks fantastic and Phottix has a good rep - Phottix Indra 500 http://flashhavoc.com/phottix-indra500-ttl-announced/

Sorry, no simple answers ;)

Thanks for that fella - I will read through your reply and have a dig around to look at your recommendations!
