Simple design software

Ms word?

InDesign is overkill for what you want. In many cases a reasonable word processing programme would fulfil your needs Have a look at OpenOffice. Big advantage is ....Its Free

Look at Scribus - free, open source. I ought to say that the best thing for page layout (can I assume that's what you're wanting to do?) is, unsurprisingly, a page layout program (for versatility and accuracy). There will be a learning curve though.

If you were planning to employ a commercial printer, ask what they recommend?

Really!?

I don't have Word but it might be a reason for getting it........

Thanks
If you don't already have it, I wouldn't buy it for this. Unless perhaps you get the educational discount.

I forgot about scribus. That is very good indeed.

I already use LibreOffice v3.4, instead of word - so presumably that's the same thing? I'll have to look in to updating.

Serif Pageplus ? http://www.serif.com/pageplus/

NEVER pay full price for serif stuff (they always have offers on) and use Quidco for extra discount

I think they do an old version for free.

Thanks. I'll look in to these as well. Free sounds good!
