Simple question :)
Is there any way I can use silent shooting while not using Live view ?
Mode 2 is perfect for classical music concerts but I cannot get it on without switching Live view on heh
Thx

sooooo......no one knows or there is no way ? :)

There is no way unfortunately. The normal shutter on the 40D is the quietest I've encountered, but I can understand why you'd want to be quieter.

My old Nikon F4 had a silent shutter mode which was pretty damned good. I dunno why we can't have something similar in a modern DSLR.

The obvious answer is pick up a cheap rangefinder 35mm film camera?

there may be a way to turn the LCD off, but for silent shooting to work i imagine the mirror has to be up, so to compose/focus etc liveview seems like the only option.

Apart from using mirror lock up. But that would only make it silent for one shot, not really what you want.

Your music is too quiet, do some decent metal instead

you can get shrouds for the dslr which muffle the sound of the flapping mirror. Its like putting a tea cosy on your camera but it does the job!
