Sigma SD1 price drop...tempted?

I have too much gear.

Reviewers seem to be saying that it's a pain in some ways but it takes good pictures that have a look of their own so I'm sure it'll have it's fans and buyers but I can't see it threatening Canon or Nikon.

Yes, I regret selling my SD10 now, still love my DP1s and would be very tempted by an SD1. I see Nikon are charging a premium to remove the anti-alias filter from the D800 whereas Sigma don't give you one for free

I'm sure both of the guys who bought one at the original price are ****ed off now :)

No, not tempted. You Sigma fans are masochists

I am surprised that anyone bought the camera at the original price, however it is now a much more tempting proposition.

Personally I would like to see more in the way of user reviews.

The last Sigma DSLR ended up getting dumped at something like £250, so this one still has a long way to go......

May be not all bad news for them, Sigma say that...

"A redemption program will be implemented for those who currently own the Sigma SD1. The program is based on a point system allowing current SD1 owners to redeem points earned in exchange for Sigma equipment. Sigma SD1 owners will receive points equal to JPY 400,000, a value representing the cost difference between the old and new camera. Each Sigma product will be assigned points for which they can be redeemed based on the market price as of February 8th, 2012."
