hi need some advice 120 - 300 sigma 2.8 os or the canon 70 - 200 2.8. which is going to be the best for quality and sharpness. only got a day to decide.

kind regards Wicksey

The canon

The Sigma 120-300 is a superb lens works brilliantly even with a 2X attached. Certainly can hold it's own against a Canon, as with all premium brands you pay more, doesn't always mean you get extra value for the additional cost.

thanks Ken i originally come from fareham, it is bloody heavy though

Two totally different lenses in my opinion. The 70-200 I'd conceder walkabout, the 120-300 not so much.

Depends how much focal length you need but the non-OS sigma I had was fantastic.

even if it means losing the focul length?
But, that wasn't the question..
The question was about quality and sharpness.
Between 70 and 200 the Canon will be better - but maybe not enough to justify the cost (to you) - but the Canon is rubbish beyond 200 (unless you get a 1.4 TC - which will take the Canon to 280mm f4.);)

the IQ of the 120-300 is pretty darn good and I doubt you'd notice any difference on an standard size print

Cropped from a shot taken with the Sigma 120-300 OS with 2X TC still pretty good IQ :D
