I had the Sigma 500 Super and it was quite good, but I found the Canon 550EX I replaced it with much easier to understand and the 580EX2 that replaced that to be better still. 430EX is also very easy to use.
Sigma has all the features, just can be complicated to use.

I've a 530 DG super. Great unit, awful manual. Superb value.

I have this one, its a great flash, when Merovingian says awful manual I think he means the documentation is bad.
Its a complex flash and some things are little tricky to understand but overall its a great flash. I got my for £80 off ebay which I thought was a steal.
Oh and it ticks all the boxes, optical flash, maual settings down to 1/128th, full tilt/swivle head, words with ebay triggers, is powerful..
