Sigma Art 85mm lens (canon fit) thoughts please

have any of you got experience with this lens please?

I have the offer of buying a new one for under a grand and want to know your thoughts before i splash the cash.

The photography unit at Cambridge University Library (I work at the library) use Sigma 50mm & 85mm f1.4’s for photographing books. We’ve got a pretty large budget - if there was better they’d be using them!

There isn't any better range of primes for any 35mm digital system than the Sigma ARTs.

Sony could and do give them good competition and arguably better them at times. The latter Sony lens releases have been pretty spectacular.
