Yes
currently have a kit lens18-55mm F3.5-5.6 DT and a Tamron 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 XR DI II
is it worth me getting a Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 Macro DG. as i can get a brand new one for £100

Do you need the extra 100mm?

I never had the Tamron 18-200mm but I had the Sigma one. Unless you have a need for that extra 100mm else I see no improvement in terms of IQ.

would it make much difference for zooming in closer? and hows the macro on this lens?

I would suggest trying one out. I have just dug out a Tamron 55-200 f4-5.6 LD macro having bought a couple of them a year or so ago. Just stuck it on the D300 and it is actually quite good so long as you understand the limitations f4 is not particularly quick but it is fine for most purposes. I have the 80-200f2.8 so this lens is spare but they can be picked up new even cheaper than that 55-300.

I have the Sigma 70-300 APO.. not so much a macro as a close-up lens, the minimum focussing distance is over 3' and that eats up a lot of those 300mm. If you want a macro lens better to save up.. if it's just for close-ups it's ok.. but you get what you pay for.
