Hi

I realized that I would never be able to afford the Nikon 70-300 VR so I managed to buy the Sigma Macro 70-300 f4 -5.6 APO for £79! I have to manual focus but I can live with that.

I was just wanting to know something. There is a ring right down by the mount. it reads from 22- 4. I was just wondering what these number might signify?

please tell me your opinions on the lens I have just bought. I am very new to all this.

Cheers Stuart

That would be the aperture ring I would guess! This changes the amount of light that can get through the lens, it affects your depth of field amongst other things.

Oh one other thing. When you are asking questions or commenting about kit it is helpful to other people if you give the kit its "full sunday name" that way people will know exactly what you are talking about. It is also helpful if you go to USER CP near the top of the screen and fill in exactly what kit you have so that people will know. As it stands we don't know what your camera is although from the information that you have given and your number of posts it is likely to be a D40x or D60 although you may have bought an older D40 :)

Cheers I am using a D60. I will try and put my list of equment as a signature. All though I'll just look like a grippy scot! :D

There is a specific place for it in the user control panel (USER CP) in the menu bar near the top. Just fill it in there if you like.
