Hi,
My sigma 50-500 OS with canon mount has a lot of dust in between the first and second elements from the front.
Please find link to a series of images that show how I have tried to open the 1st and the second element. Purpose of both are the same. To get in between the first and the second element to remove the debris.

Both are stuck to the body and do not move at all.
Tried applying some alcohol too.

Link for images taken while trying to remove the lens.

Please help.

Welcome to TP, Anuj.

I haven't looked at your photos; I can't be bothered to go through the hassle of downloading each one separately to look at. I suggest you avail yourself of the gallery facility within this forum, so you can show images directly within your post. (And you can go back and edit your post too, so you can replace that file sharing link with the actual images.)

Anyway, regarding the lens, I have two suggestions.

1. Send it to Sigma 's servicing department. They will dismantle and clean it for you. They operate a fixed price system so they can tell you in advance exactly what it will cost.

2. Ignore it. Dust at the front of your lens won't be visible on your photos.

I agree-I had a similar situation with my Sigma 150-500mm

I sent it to Sigma UK - they cleaned it and it cost me around £35 I think, last year

Les

Ps welcome to the forum,I trust you'll be staying :D

always had good service from sigma ,depends where you are i suppose

The elements should come off pretty easily... Just some screws if I recall. I had to open one up because it got a bunch of moisture inside from shooting in the rain (yes, I had it covered).

But those lenses are not sealed and they extend/contract as you zoom...That means they actually suck stuff (dust/moisture) inside. The dust will come back. I'd say ignore it if it's not problematic.

welcome to the forum anuj if it was me i wouldnt have taken the risk at trying to open it i would have sent it to sigma as you could do more damage than good and end up with a large repair bill ,i could see the point if it was a cheap lens, but what they go for 2nd hand would put me off
