Hi all,
I am thinking of getting the 50-150mm Sigma. Do any of you have experience of this lens, and what do you think of it?
Cheers.

I had a MkII which was small, light and had excellent image quality. Sigma then removed the small & light attributes by adding OS and, to my mind, the lens lost most of its appeal. I expect it's still good optically but the point of a 50-150mm is that it is compact, not the size of a 70-210mm like the current version.

Was a handy lens, so much lighter and smaller than the 70-200 and produces some very nice images. The only thing to watch out for is I found anything under 2m was front focussing, seems to be a very common problem with these but for anything over 2m it was spot on.

Agree with above. I have the older non-OS version and it's excellent, smaller and lighter than my f2. 8 FX zooms. The OS version made it bigger and heavier.

Thanks for your input guys. My original choice of lens was the Canon 135mm f2L , but it's just too long for me on a 7D.
I read about some front focus issues on the 50-150mm not long after posting, but is that on the older models? I have been looking at the f2.8 EX DC OS HSM
I think I may settle on the Sigma 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM after looking at some images on Flickr.

Yea it was the original model, from what I read the OS version was an improvement focus wise but never come across one myself.
