Hi guys,
Got a old sigma manual 400mm prime lens off E-bay a few weeks ago.
The problem is there is a dust build up inside the lenses so cannot clear it.

Had a look at the Sigma site and they say a clean will be around £85
The question is this,
is it worth spending more money, is the IQ from these lenses any good and would justify the expense.
Anyone got one ,had one ,it,s seen some use,but apart from the dust (which does affect image quality) works very well.

Cheers Rick.:help:

Must admit, I'd baulk at an £85 cleaning bill.

Even the newer Sigma AF APO versions of the lens can often by had for under £200, so I wonder if it would be worth it for an older MF?

For about £100 you could get a Nikkor 300mm MF f/4.5 AIS and another £20 for a 1.4x TC.

I'd think long an hard about spending that £85... are you sure dust is showing up, as its very unusual that it does?

The image looks slightly soft Andy, and when I looked at the light bulb through the glass ,a lot of dust showed up.

Nikkor 300 for a ton....got a sigma 1.4 telecon,so the Nkkor glass looks like a winner.

Unless you know different....:geek::nuts::p
