Yes
This new lens is due for release earlier than expected I was told today. should be out in about two weeks. RRP is £799 which is a tad more than I was expecting.

Leave it a month or so and you can knock a £100 off it i reckon.

Ouch! That's nearly as much as the Nikkor.

I'll bet it's not as good as the Samyang 35mm 1.4

If you can live without AF that lens is amazing. I don't care if it's made by Kosina in Korea... it's brilliant.

I can only imagine for 800 quid it will be something special... it needs to be really.

Well it's actually £900 less than the starting price of the Nikon lens. But it's still a tad steeper than I expected.

Huh? You can get the Nikkor 35mm 1.4G for a little over £1000.. where the hell are you looking? LOL The sigma is only a couple of hundred quid cheaper, not 900!

The Nikon 35mm F1.4G started out at £1699. It's now going for £1299.

I was comparing the RRP of both lenses.

When the Sigma comes down to a "street price" (like the Nikon already has) then we'll get a better idea of the price difference.

I think in 2013 we will begin to see AF samyang's. They have confirmed there are releasing a af nex model next year. This I imagine is only the start. Great news more the merrier! There not without there problems from reviews i've read.

That could be good news. No idea what you've been reading the but the 35mm is incredible.

If its even close in performance to the 35L I think it's very competitively priced. I'm watching this space!

The price will drop, the 50 and 85 are superb so no doubt this will also be.

Excited by this lens as it will part of my perfect combo that I'm aiming to own.Got the Sigma 85mm and just need this lens and the Sony 135mm 1.8 and that's me sorted.:)

The Sigma is already available pre-order for 599 with microglobe.

Looking at a few net reviews I'm not sure I'd deal with Microglobe but I'm guessing it'll end up being closer to that price than £800 in the long run.

My guess would be that it may perform in a similar fashion to there previous couple of f1.4 lenses, that is great center performance even wide open but with the need to stop down along way to get the boarders to follow.

Looking at the reviews the strenght of the Samyang seems to me that the boarders are good even wide open and hit peak performance by f/4, with the MF aswell it seems likean ideal landscape/still life lens to me.

Now on sale, 799 at Park Cameras, or 599 at Microglobe (I thought they were grey imports there, but it says UK sourced stock). Not seen any reviews yet though.

Bought a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 HSM from Microglobe earlier this year as they were the cheapest of the apparently UK based companies - but the serial number was rejected by Sigma when I tried to register it for the 3 year warranty, so I think you are right to think they are (at least for some stock) grey imports.

However, when I emailed them to query, they immediately offered to send me a revised copy of the invoice stating the lens was covered with a 3 year warranty from them, so can't fault them in that respect (I've also used them for smaller items, such as filters, over the years, and never had any issues).

Nice looking lens, and that's a smashing price! I'd be tempted at that. But, how reliable are microglobe? I've never heard of them.

If the reviews were favourable, I'm thinking - sell the 24-70 2.8, have some cash back and a new lens, and I have the 50mm to compliment it. It would be a fair bit lighter in the bag. And I don't tend to shoot 24mm often.

Cool, I'll bookmark their site and have a nose about on there later.

If the quality of their 50mm and 85mm 1.4 are anything to go by this should be exceptional. At £600 this could be a bargain compared to the Nikon equivelent

Lensrental have tested this lens and said “So I’m clear, this copy of the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 was a bit better in the center and clearly better in the corners than the best copy of the Canon 35mm f/1.4 I’ve ever tested. For the Nikonians amongst us, the Nikon 35mm f/1.4 tested on a D3x resolves almost identically to the Canon.”

They also added it has worse broken than both Canikon. Surprising sigma primes are usually very creamy.

This lens is out of stock for Nikon everywhere I look. Micro globe no longer have anything close to £599 - so whoever grabbed that deal, good on ya! The price of this lens is actually going UP! everywhere. It's not £799 on MG, well, if they had it in stock! [they do have the canon mount]

I made a balls of ordering it last night in store over here, on their website. I clicked to buy and went to process payment, only to then realise I'd ordered the Canon version ... ooops. Rang them this morn and sorted it, it will be at least 6 weeks before they have the Nikon version in stock!! so I'm getting a refund, phew.

If anyone finds a Nikon fit online, on a reliable site, for a decent price, let us know ;)

Cheers.

I have the same problem. I'm waiting for mine from panamoz over a weer now (and it's Canon mount). I ordered it after they told me they have it back in stock and then, when i paid for it they emailed me that there was a mistake made by their warehouse and apparently they dont have it. Shame as I really need it and didn't expect that it will be so desirable... and I hope they won't tell me to pay more now that the prices are gone up (especially that i paid for it already). Can they do that?

I don't think they can do that. Once you paid, the transaction has been processed, you should get it at the price it was at time of sale, or I'm sure they would be breaking some kind of trading rule.

Not really, shops do it all the time, charge cards for mispriced items, alert customer, offer refund.

But they don't charge you at the later, higher price, if you've already paid for it at a lower price. I've never seen that at least.

No, what theyd do is either honour the so called misprice or ask if he wants it at the "correct" higher price or a refund.

Well, I've checked any site I can think of and can only find the Canon version available. I'll have to wait I guess.

Check out the images on Flickr especially the pig!! O M G ! One of the sharpest lenses I have ever seen!

Too small a file size on the pig to really tell the true sharpness. Too many people in that group hide their exif data too, as well as uploading only very small sizes ... grrr, hate that! There's a few real nice 1.4 examples of larger sizes on there though if you look through them -

Every store I ring over here is telling me this lens will not be available anywhere until the end of February. Yet, some UK sites tell me they have it in stock, and if I buy now, I could have it by next week. Are they leading me on? take my money, then say "sorry, thought we had it, we'll have your order end of Feb ..."?

Why not call the UK shops?

Seriously considering this now and maybe a used Canon 85mm, till i can afford the Sigma version. Only trouble with the 35mm, is i'm so used to having the 50mm prime and i'm unsure if i could go that bit wider...

I have a number for one here to call, but they could just tell me on the phone, as they have done via email, that they do have it in stock.

Actually looks like everyone is struggling for stock, as Onestop and Panamoz are OOS. No way I'd pay UK prices for it.
