Sigma 24-135mm F2.8/4.5 ASP IF

I've read a few reviews on this lens and i still can't make my mind up if it's good bad or the other..:shrug: .Any of you peeps on here have any thought on this lens as a walkabout ,thanks for looking..

What's your budget? I think you could do better if you're considering buying it new, and don't mind going second hand to get some EX glass.

Pentax user with a Budget of ... 250ish ... absolute MAX!!! 300.. Going second hand is not a problem at all Moos3h ,and i'm open to suggestions

Check out the EX series, 24-70 is a great place to start - I'll have a look around for some prices.

Been lookin at that very same lens ,read a few reviews about it ,seems a hit or a miss if you find a good 1 ,ie.. seems it's not uncommon for them to a bit soft when using it at f2.8 .

Thanks for your input Moos3h, been toying with that one at Mifsuds for a couple of days prob gone .. I do a bit of Motocross and rallying ,but lately i've been wondering about with cam in hand .. landscapes ,old buildings stuff like that

For walkaround, 24-70 is pretty much perfect on a crop body, you might wish for slightly wider, in which case that 18-50 would be good.

The thing is, at f2.8 it's such a shallow DOF that even if it is a touch soft (and you'd have to take yer chances), it's not that critical IMO - if you stop down to f4 or f5.6 and it's still soft, you have a problem - but most lenses sort themselves out by then.

Out of the two, the 24-70 really looks the part, it's big and heavy and very 'pro' looking, good and a bad thing as it does feel quite weighty.

I have the 24-70 and it rocks and no probs with softness but it is hard to spot softness with the amount of DOF. Here is one of my first test shots with it at f/2.8.
