Yes
The lens arrived this morning. Bloody typical. It's the only day this week the "She who must be obeyed" had designated to going shopping for bits and pieces for the kids.

Hoping to turn it into a

"Do you like this"
"YES"
"Are you sure"
"YES"
"Not sure though"
"JUST BUY THE BLOODY THING AND LETS GO"

Jump's in car and off home to have a play.

Alternatively, I could let her shop all day, get really happy etc etc and then tomorrow can be my day.

Lens opened but not mounted - desperate to use - must ............ go........... out........

You've got it thats the main thing:)

Great - let us know how you get on with Manual Focus control ?

I would get to the shops, then "remember" you left the "oven on", "back door open" ,"you saw a wild cat in the lounge" etc, and say that she can carry on shopping and you'll shoot home sort it out and me back before she knows it.

Stay at home all day palying with the lens, then pick her up before shops shut and say the car broke down, but sorted now:naughty:

Like the idea Lumpster.

Dont like the idea of all of a sudden losing the keys to the house and finding I have to sleep in the car or back garden tonight.

Anyways, the day wasnt too bad I spose. She did her shopping, the kids got a few bits and pieces they needed and we had dinner out which was pleasant.

Now do you think that might be worth the £1000 + to get the Canon 100-400 L.

Do you think she will go for that. :bonk: :bonk: ME NEITHER, ho hum, now to go and get the lens out again before my chores are required.

Where abouts in Redditch do you live ?

I originally lived in Oakenshaw but moved just over a year ago to Church Hill.

I'm in Exhall Close, a right turn before your road :)
A meet would be good, I'm free at the weekends.

Yes, and we're now that much closer to knowing where to send the cat burglars. ;)

LOL, yeah if you could just let us know exactly which room you leave the lens in when you are out, ta. :D

Does your cat steal thing too then? Mine does but mainly cat food pouches from next door, hasn't worked out how to open them yet so still has a need for me.

No problem. You wanna break in be my guest. Just one obstacle I can see for ya. Thats a Police Trained German Shepherd to get past.

Still want the details. :D

For gods sake you two, get a room.

I want to know what your impressions of the new lens are like. It represents really good value, if it's any good. I know a few people use one but those first impressions can also tell alot. :)

Obviously you didnt look in the Pics sharing section. I have posted the first 3 images taken with the lens.

I have never done Macro work before, in fact only being using a DSLR for a little over 6 months now so I am swamped with overload with it at the moment.

Having said that, quality is great even in my hands. I just need to learn how to use it along with everything else I have. Who knows, even one day I might be able to tweak the photos in Photoshop. No idea propely how to use Photoshop and must find the time/tutorials specific to a picture I want to change.

Where you posted em? can't see yet???

Despite keeping half an eye out for a post from you with macro stuff in I still managed to miss it. :bonk:

Does look impressive doesn't it.

Like all of us, I'd live to get my grubby little mits on the canon 180 macro but even if I could afford one, I think I'd stuggle to justify spending that much on a macro lens for the EOS when I know a MF camera would probably make better use of one.

At the price for the Sigma 150 it becomes easier to justify and having the viewfinder that one stop brighter for fine focusing must be a real bonus.

Cheers.

sawright don't panic, just found 'em

It does seem quality and build is certainly on par with anything I have in my bag. I dont know its limits yet, but I certainly know my own and I bet I havent even touched anywhere near its limits yet.

Now just to find a college night course or similar that will benefit me and teach me some skills.

glad its good for you!
