Does the sigma 150 Macro Lens have a extending barrel ????

YES I still not got my macro lenses and still deciding and then when i decide see if i got the funds for it if not then time to save.....

I am torn between

Canon 100MM macro that many people in camera shop says to have
Sigma 105MM Macro that you guys use and suggest (can afford)
Sigma 150MM Macro for the extra lenght but I not too sure if I want a massive lens

no extending barrel - everything is done internally.

i have this lens and its not massive compared to others - if its statics shots you are gonig to be taking then your focal length shouldn't be too much of a problem.

the canon on the other hand makes quite a handy portrait lens with it just being 100mm.

So I best of getting the sigma 150 over any of the other lens? Shame my local jessops not got one in but they got the 105 but that got extending barrel

Where best place for the 150mm then

Also can one of you provide a photo of your 150 lens with some other lens you have to give me an idea on length of it.

i had the lens raised about 1cm

Lovely Set up you got there. Do you highly rate the 150 sigma over the canon 100 then buddy? Also what the 85mm lens like what you use that for?

I have the 150mm sigma, just buy it, you won't regret it, it's not much bigger than the 105mm which i've also had but it's worth the extra money.

I took this within an hour of owning it, not up to TP tog standards but I was impressed with it.

I love to see a photo with the 105 and the 150 side by side so i can see how much bigger it is

I havent had a chance to play with the canon 100mm macro but from what i have heard it is a cracking lens! I rate the sigma very highly, because of the small apertures i use and the longer focal length yuo do need decent shutter speeds if using it hand held. That is probably were the 100mm macro can be useful as the shutter speed doesnt need to be as high to eliminate camera shake.

The 85mm i use for portrait and it is good for indoor work as well being f/1.8 I like prime lenses, they force you to think about your shot more in terms of composition.

7dayshop currently have the Sigma 150mm in stock @ £345, bit a of bargain that

I just got this lens a few days ago, and it's brilliant. Never done macro before and with a few helpful comments from member on the macro forum I managed to come up with this. Depending on your budget and views on imports. I got mine from The Digital Camera Shop Ltd online for £407 and registered it with Sigma for the 3 yr Warrenty.
Hope this helps
Mike

This auction might be worth a look. New, but front-focussing. Maybe Sigma would fix it either under warranty, or cheaply....
