Bought the Tamron from Amazon the other day but when I unboxed it I noticed a very small speck of dust or something inside the lens.Looking at the reviews I can see this has happened with others.Maybe I was sent a previously returned item.
The pictures I took today don't seem to have been affected but should I get a replacement or should I go for the Sigma.

all zoom lenses suffer from dust,if its that small, i wouldn't worry, especially the hassle of sending it back, if you had one with no dust in, it wouldn't take long for it to get some unfortunately,
thats how zooms work , they suck in dust, if you got a sharp lens ,then i would keep it, the replacement could be worse.

Not all zooms are dust suckers. If the zooming is done internally without changing the external length of the lens there is no dust sucking. My cleanest lens of all, not a speck of dust inside on careful scrutiny with a torch, is an ancient very battered film era Minolta 80-200mm f2.8. Externally it's my worst looking lens by far.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but has anyone had both these lenses?

Is there a massive difference in them? Should hopefully have the money for a 2nd hand version and the Tamron is just coming up a bit cheaper. (It'll be on my 7dmkii)

Cheers
