Does anyone know the correct use of settings for this behemoth?, I read on here some time back what was good for hand held panning etc, but unable to find it.

Yes Didge, IIRC correctly the thread said that it was better to have either OS1 or OS2 for Hand Held panning shots, but I cannot remember which, As the Airshow season has officially begun, I struggled a little at Abingdon to work it out, add that to the various light conditions it was a taxing day.

Os2 is normally used for panning as it stabilises in the vertical axis only.
However in theory if you start panning before starting to take photos and keep the panning speed the same then os1 may work better for you.

Okay, Thanks Gareth, that's the information I needed.

As I indicated above:OS2 is the one you want.

Mine always stays in OS1 for mototsport or aircraft hand held or on a mono pod. I might try OS2 next time I'm out then LOL

The manual states that stabilised in both orientations in 1 and just vertically in 2. So if waving it horizontally then use 2. That said I don't think I ever changed mine from 1 and that included birds which are all over the place. :)
