Really stuck now - can't decide! 105mm doesn't appear to have any drawbacks, but neither does the 150mm...

Is the extra length of the 150mm worth it over the 105mm? But then again, there's the Tamron 90mm as well:thinking:

I'm more inclined to get the 150mm - anyone want to persuade me otherwise?:help:

I think the 150mm is internal focusing which I think is a massive bonus in macro togging. I have nearly squashed a few bugs when I focus with my Tamron 90mm!

Other than the focal length, the biggest advantage of the 150mm is that it has internal focusing.

^^^ Too slow. Damn my typing speed.

The other thing about the 150 is that it has high speed focussing (HSM) which is great for subjects that you have to move in to photograph. I used to have a 105 and now have the 150.

HSM is a huge plus for auto-focus, it is really fast and measures up there with Nikon's own AF-S lenses.

That aside, both are crisp sharp. Keep in mind that the 150 is a lot bigger and heavier than the 105!

i am just about to order one of these as i have heard many great things about them and they can be used as quite a versatile lens for portraits, wildlife, sports and ofcourse macro photography.

Hi I've got both Sigma 105 and 150mm.
Really pleased with both of them. I got the 150 this year for more reach for shy subjects
Both excellent IQ I find I can use the 105 hand held easily but use a tripod for the 150
