OK, a question for all you winde angle peeps...New lens just arrived! Sig 10 - 20mm:D I have a Lee lens hood bellows system (left over from large format days...) and I want to get a polariser for the Sigma.

Even though I own the hood, it is still considerably cheaper to buy a 77mm Tiffen or Hoya screw-fit polariser, rather than get a 100mm square Lee filter!

Does anyone use a screw in filter on the Sigi? To me, the end element looks really close to the filter thread. I am concerned about buying the wrong brand of glass and scratching the lens. Are there some brands that offer more space between the element? I don't want to make an expensive mistake either way, so advice is welcomed.

Thanks in advance

I use a slim Hoya (pro1 I think it's called) and have had no problems without it touching the front element of my 10-20

I use a sigma thin type polariser on my 10-20 and it fits fine with no vignetting that I've noticed. The only thing that I've since found out is that polarisers don't work particularly well at really wide focal lengths as the amount of polarisatin changes dramatically across the frame.

Thanks for your advice. I never thought of that! The angle of light entering the edges of the lens at extreme wide angle will be affexted to a lesser degree than in the middle of the lens...Hmm

I wonder what other folks use to get those amazing clouds and saturated colours. Maybe I need to investigate HDR more closely.
