Shutter speed/aperture

Hi all

Been out today by a fountain and thought I'd try some slow shutter speed water shots. I've read somewhere that 1s shutter should be enough to get the effect, what actually turned out was a picture of what looks like a sandy highlited pic with. I'm guessing the light was too bright so in increased the aperture and got exactly the same result. Also tried changing exp. Although the photo is interesting I was a bit disappointed. Any advise?

Can you post the picture so people can look? 1s exposure is long time even with small aperture if you don't have enough ND filter on your lens.

Are you using a tripod?
Lowest iso setting and smallest aperture and adjust if needed. ND filters will help if it's still over exposing.

Aperture needs to be pretty small in bright light (try f16 or f22) - Higher numbers = smaller hole (aperture)

ISO set to the lowest

If still not slow enough, you need a filter to block light.

Also you need a tripod.

Yes. Although latest lenses should have auto tripod detect and do it for you. Personaly I would do it myself.
