living in the midlands I've done a lot of travelling around the Peak District and took a lot of pics, I fancy a change of location and fancy a trip to the Shropshire hills which I had not really known of until a recent tv programme on the area. Is any one familiar with the area that could point me into some good photo areas and advise where to park? I don't mind a trek from the car as long as I know where I am heading. Thanks all for any help.

The long Mynd and the Brown Clee I've only been too a couple of time (even though i can see the Clee hills from my house). I'm pretty sure you can drive and park up both of these hills (you definitely can on the Long Mynd, although don't look down over the edge of the single track road).
I found the Brown Clee more interesting, it used to be a quarry so there are some old dilapidated concrete buildings up there, also its now got some big radio equipment up there.

Was it that program about Mammoths by any chance, Church Stretton? A lovely area. There's parking and good walking in the Carding Mill valley eg SO 44899 94346

Stiperstones is nice too, parking at the Bog mine SO 44899 94346.

Thanks to you both for taking the time to reply, this is most helpful.

I think it was countryfile Alan, either way a part of the world only 60mins from me that I was not aware was so undulating.

Thank you guys, being based in Worcester and have driven back from North Wales on numerous occasions I have often looked and pondered at Brown Clee Hill.
It can be a bleak place. The wife doesn't like it, she thinks it's spooky and creepy.

There's a very active gliding club at the top of Minton Batch and the public footp[ath runs right down the runway.
