Shrewsbury Fire Station

The missus "liked" an image that was shared. Next thing she knew, Shrewsbury Fire Station gave her an invite and private tour! Of course, I could not help myself by grabbing my camera and asking the missus to take me along.

Which was odd, as all her girlfriends starting asking her if they could go. women. :shrug:

Anyway, we met a nice lady and a guy who gave her the tour. I didnt pay much attention to the tour, was more interested in getting as many pics, that I could do get more practice in.

Unfortunately, to my disappointment, the station was pretty new, and only on one floor, which meant no fire poll. I could not find a traditional bell and indoors, lighting was very poor, I couldnt use a flash so had to rely on the camera's auto ISO will I controlled Fstops and timing.

The biggest problem I had was getting anyone to allow me to photograph them. The firemen were very camera shy. :thumbsdown:

So I did the best I could, hopefully some interesting pictures here.

Is that someones ahed in the first one? Sounds like fun. I did a project a few years ago and found that while the firemen were nice they were a bit 'shy' about being photoed. Got the impression that some misinterpretation of some aspects put them off. Anyway a local firestation does have a pole and i got a few shots of that in action. Go ti a fire station open day and chat up the station manager.

the first one, is whats left of the pole as the station is pretty new, im not sure if they knocked the old one down and rebuilt this new one or the old one is elsewhere and abandoned, might be worth a search, will check it out
