Should i sharpen in lightroom?

I shoot raw files and process them basically in lightroom, then load them in photoshop to fine tune them. I usually use the high pass filter to sharpen the images, but i am unsure whether i should do any sharpening in lightroom first. It seems to have mixed results when i do, but i am unsure about not doing it as it seems in some instances that a certain level of sharpening is needed on raw files before beginning.

When you load the files into PS from Lightroom are you taking them in as psd or tiff?

I never sharpen in LR2.6, however the new beta version has a much better sharpening tool. I normally do 80% of my work in LR and then fine tune/sharpen in PS4

Maybe I am not as discerning as you but I have not found any significant difference between sharpening in LR and sharpening in CS4 for my bird photographs. You need to understand how LR sharpening works to get the best results and it is only applicable whole frame so I can appreciate why you may want to locally tweak in Photoshop. I would, however, only sharpen in either LR or PS and not spread it over both apps.

Lightroom will automatically add some import sharpening 25,1,1 IIRC. But for the main sharpen, you should do that after you have resized it. In Lightroom I do this from the export menu.
