Sorry if this is a dum question, but I'm just getting used to a new D700. Most of my lenses are manual and working fine, the one AF I have (at present) is a 35-80 1.4-5.6D (the plastic one), and I'm getting an FEE message. Having looked at the other current thread about this error message I understand that it could be issues with the contacts. But, in theory should this lens speak to the camera? It only shoots at F5 (though the ring is at 22) otherwise it's showing FEE.
I'm not too bothered as it's not a lens I'm planning on using with it but was just wondering if this is indicating a fault with either the lens or the camera.
Thanks in advance.
Frank
