I'm going on safari in November and could do with some extra reach.. Anyone want to try full-frame for a fortnight? Ping me if you're keen on trying it, then we can figure out insurance / any bribes in either direction :) (I've got a couple of nice lenses I could add to the temporary swap if that helps!)

Or hiring a long lens?

I know.. am buying a long lens (100-400) but would like to take a body more suited to wildlife than my 6d.

I have a 5d3 as well so should be able to leave 1 lens on each for most of the time to try and minimise dust :)

Buy a used one from MPB and sell it back on your return.

Damn, he beat me to it!!!

A 6d would be fine for safari / wildlife.

Depends on the safari! I certainly preferred the 100-400mm on a crop body compared to the same on a full frame!

I'd echo others advice by a second hand body and flog it on when you return I did exactly that with a 100-400 L and lost a lot less than the cost of a three week rental then did it again with a 14mm f2.8 for the northern lights!

I was thinking more along the lines of a xxx-600 on FF for a safari :)

I've been using my 6D for motorsports :)

So have I, F1, was superb at the British GP this year (I posted a thread on it:))

I don't think it's a great idea to be learning how to use a new camera when you're on location. I'd get something now and start using it every day, or stick with what I know.
