I'm afraid that the shorties will not be back until November/December at the earliest and migratory geese a while after that!
However, Elmley is good all year for many other birds and well worth a day out (I believe that you currently have to book in advance). Sandwich Bay Nature Reserve (
https://sbbot.org.uk/) is also good for other birds. The Shorties can be easily seen over the golf course when they are around and there is a path that goes straight through the centre of the course, if you park next to the 'Restharrow Scrape'.
My favourite location for birds is 'Stodmarsh Nature Reserve' (
https://group.rspb.org.uk/thanet/local-wild-places/stodmarsh-national-nature-reserve/), where Bitterns have been showing well recently, 5 pairs of Breeding Marsh Harriers and Hobbies are around at the moment!
