No
what a shocking series of events..

i cant imagine why this guy would flip out and shoot several people and then as it seems shoot himself..

my thoughts are with the families of the victims..

:(

I seen this on the news. My thoughts are with all those have been afected by it.

Every now and again one of those nutters surfaces.
Dunblane, Hungerford etc.

Reports are the guy was a decent enough chap, quiet etc.. what on earth comes over people where they can flip to this level..

Apparently the guy was from Frizington and this morning was the funeral for Chloe Walker (also from Frizington) who was killed in the coach crash on her 16th birthday last Monday on the A66. Maybe he knew her and lost it - possibly

We'll need to see what unfolds.
Probably been an underlying factor there for a long while just waiting on a trigger.

That was a bit close for comfort. I could normally have been at any of the locations where the shootings took place but fortunately I wasn't. A very very sad day for all of us here in W Cumbria.

This is indeed a tragic and serious event, my thoughts are with all of thos affected. now Ceefax says 12 died, was five when I last looked.

Though this not the only serious event in the UK today.. In Derbyshire a family has been wiped out, two adults and two kids, one was just a baby...

I just cant believe this, my thoughts are with all the familys that have been affected..

Just heard of this now!

I was scared reading it as I have family in Whitehaven and Seascale - don't know who the people in Seascale are yet though.

Just found out a family member in Whitehaven was at work right next to the street where the 1st shooting happened, she heard the shots, although she's pretty shaken up as no one came to tell her to shut the place up for security and it's an old folk's day centre so it could have been a target.
Also, my mum has a friend who lives a few houses away from the gunman or rather, ex gunman but she hasn't replied to any of mum's calls yet.

One thing which I thought was strange was the fact he went to boot! It's only a small lane of houses - pretty remote.
I panicked a bit when I heard a person on a bike in seascale was shot as my grandad cycles to the paper shop every day.

.....but wow, some series of events!

RIP to my fellow West Cumbrians who were murdered :( :( :( :'(:'(

It saddens me that my hometown will be famously synonymous with a killing spree like those in Hungerford & Dunblane. The farmer who was killed was a former Whitehaven rugby player, who's brother plays in SL for Harlequins, and was well known in the area. My sister knows one of the other victims, who has yet to be announced too. It's absolutely crazy, and my thoughts go out to those families and friends directly affected.

I wonder if anything will happen to the gun shop in Workington, I always feel strange driving past it, it feels like it shouldn't be there next to the clothes shops.
I think stricter gun control needs to come into force, although I doubt the government will do anything about it - they talk but never act - let's hope this new government have more balls - I'll be surprised.

Thoughts and prayers to all affected.

My thoughts are with the victims families, it's also with the family of the guy that did it, it's not there fault that he flipped but they might feel the back lash of it.

I have been in Dunblane many times since the horror there and certainly don't get the feeling of anything ominous or remindfull of the event hanging over the place.
Time moves on, I suppose.

according to the newspapers, the gunman owed money in unpaid tax and was hoping his inheritance would cover it, then found out that his brother got everything and he got jack.... he flipped, killing his brother and the lawyer who delt with the will first then just went on a spree after that.....

Guy clearly had issues previous to this and something was going to set him off anyway.

its very upsetting.

it saddens me when you think that if only the people who were killed/shot were early or late there then they might not have lost their lives.

I am afraid that is how chance works.
Remember that Thomas Hamilton planned to arrive at Dunblane primary at
Assembly.
By chance his planned journey was interrupted by temporary traffic lights that day and he was late. Dispersal was underway. He had a lot of unused ammo.

Horrible thinking about what may have happened.
