Recently I've been finding most of the stuff I'm shooting on my Chamonix I find I want to crop to panoramic, even at the point of capture, to the extent I've been looking at making a panoramic darkslide to take out with me. This got me to thinking that instead of that and still only getting 2 shots per 5x4 frame, I could get a 612 back and shoot my stash of 120 Astia and Velvia
Does anyone have any experience of using these panoramic backs on 5x4? did you find you needed to mask out the groundglass, or did you mark it instead in some way so you can still see around the frame?
My other worry is I only have a 90mm at the wide end, which doesn't feel very wide when said in MF terms. I don't really want to spend £300 on a back to find I need to spend the same again on a 75mm (or wider) to get the sort of look I'm after :nono:
Really I'm just after anyones experiences of using one of these on 5x4, and the pros and cons
