so ive just got a low cost ( cheap frame with et of 3 muslin backdrops ( even that's debatable that they are muslin they were listed as "This is Non-woven Fabrics seamless muslin background."

anyway I know im going to get shouted at and told nooooooo but still onwards and upwards.
firstly never shot in this way before with any kind of backdrops and im doing a 2 day carnival event selling prints where we will have an outdoor ( on a grass field ) "studio" set up.
basically underneath a gazebo with the hanging frame and the muslin backdrop. so questions are.. considering the shooting conditions ( under a dark green open sided gazebo in 2 weeks time hopefully sun is out) firstly I have white black and green backdrops.. what colour would be best to use. essentially its just shots of kids in fancy dress and the like, nothing to formal more a way just to get known locally and hopefully gain some experience in this kind of environment.
secondly the big issue is with the muslin itself and dirt grime etc. What are best options .. shoot from say the knees up/waist up so the muslin is just working as a pure backdrop.. or shoot full head to toe which means then draping muslin down and across grass with people walking over it and risking it getting caked in dirt /mud etc on the floor.

obviously we could just shoot head and shoulder shots but if they are in fancy dress that wont show off the outfits.. maybe we could have some kind of "carpet runner up the side of the muslin and get them to take shoes off ( would that look weird barefoot portraits.. really at a loss on this

If you want full length I don't see any problem with people taking their shows off to protect your background, certainly preferable to it getting really muddy and showing up on later shots.
