Hi everybody,
I love this forum (I've been lurking for a couple of weeks) :D, & wondered if anyone can help me with a question.

I've seen some great pictures of motorbikes taking off over the mountain section at Cadwell, & was thinking of going there to the BSB meet on the Saturday to try & get some for myself.

Is it possible to shoot from the public area & get head on shots?, do you need to be in the grandstand section? & also can the public get to the area opposite the grandstand to get side on shots?

Thanks,

Stew.

No expert but I think you could stand around the cafe area & with a big enough lens possibly get head on (or very close too) type shots. You can't go in field unless you have a media pass(stand to be corrected here) & the area opposite the grandstand is in field. Grandstand is good spot again with the correct lens.
Tis a geat circuit for photo's though even without a media pass.Enjoy the BSB :-)

Yes, with a long lens and a steady hand you should be able to get something from the cafe. however, at Cadwell there are a plethora of fantastic places to shoot from, which allows some varied shots.

If you stand in the cafe area, you are a little high to get a decent head on and it wil be packed, if you go past the cafe into the trees you can get lower down but need an even longer lens to get anything good.
You won't get on the inside of the circuit as general public.
Get there real early and suss out 2 or 3 spots to shoot from as prime spots and 2 or 3 as alternatives.
Move between spots in between races, everybody lines the fence during races and you won't see a thing if you move to a new location.

Its a great circuit. Mountain grandstand is great for pics the only trouble is that riders like Josh Brookes will jump a long way and then the fence gets in the way. Also try abackward view up the mountain.
A visit to Hall bends is worthwhile and the entrace to charlies can be good.
