Yes
just bought a sigma wideangle 10-20 and after using it for the first time all my shots seem over sharp.
i have always set sharpness to maximum on my over lens which seemed fine.
could someone please give me some tips on what setting would probably be better and any tips on using this lens :bonk:

Over-sharpening often looks bad. It's not real sharpness, but software enhanced edge contrast which looks a bit naff if you overdo it.

Reset all image parameter pre-sets to default.

thanks guys does this still apply if im only shooting jpeg is there any merit in setting sharpness to auto.
sorry if i sound confused i am just learning to apply sharpness in cs5 but just wondered if getting it right in camera was the way to go.
this is a new lens and want i to see what it can do but need to know which are the best in camera settings.

I set my cameras to minimum in camera sharping, I prefer to add any if needed in Photoshop afterwards.

The best setting of all is shoot in RAW and you, not the computer in your camera make the decisions :)

many thanks guys got a holiday coming up in sorrento and i want to get things right.
will take your replies onboard and try and nail those landscapes.

Maybe shoot both JPEGs and Raw.

The camera pre-sets only apply to the JPEG image - sharpening, contrast, saturation, noise reduction etc etc.

If you output to JPEG only, that's what you get, but if you also shoot Raw, that image file is untouched and you can do anything to it in post processing.

Gues what you need to do? "all my shots seem over sharp. I have always set sharpness to maximum" you get the clue? :)
