Sharpness right through

Was out yesterday photographing bluebells and got sharpness at back but would have liked it from front to back was shooting at between f4 f8 where an I going wrong ?

Too small a DoF? Too big an aperture?

I think it'll need you to Post a photo with intact EXIF, for you to get some accurate answers.

Read up about hyperfocal distances. But some examples wouldn't go a miss.

Use something like f/11 and focus about a third into the frame, that should do it

Yes, hyperfocal distance focusing is the technique you need. Focusing one-third in or whatever does not work when you want maximum depth-of-field from near to far distance.
