I am pretty sure that SS was miming on Strictly tonight or at least singing over a recording. Am I alone in feeling a little cheated that some artists can't perform live? Oh and didn't he go to court for assaulting a photographer?!

Blimey - thought he was dead:shake:

Did he ever sing live then?

You've never seen Top of the Pops then?

Oh yes sure but SCD is a live show and the backing singers and band are first class, its just a shame that they have guests who can't sing!

I don't recall any of the 'guest stars' ever outpeforming the backing singers and band, they are superb but that doesn't excuse Fakin' Stevens! It must be the only show when a so called 'star' comes on the quality inevitably goes down

Hmm, I wasn't sure, I was more unimpressed by the lack of power in his voice, they really did have to drop down the backing band/singers so he could be heard, which makes me think he was singing live and poorly :(

Hi,
I wasn't realy sure its jut that at times he turned his head away from the mike and his voice didn't fade. I agree his voice was weak and wondered whether he was singing over his own track?

The bands did sing live on ToTP but what the TV audience heard was a recording made earlier.

My ole fave, Marc Bolan, always mimed on TOTP. Nearly always recorded the track for TOTP rather than sing to the released 45. Don't know why TOTP made most artists do this? The Clash, iirc, refused to go on unless they could sing live. For a while they changed the rules and any live band had to sing live (again, iirc). Not sure about SCD though, thought it was a load of old squit anyway. ;-)
