Hi all,

I'm a graphic designer by trade but have been asked to start taking photography at work. In the studio this is mainly shopping items and flowers.

Could anyone recommend a set up to use and what items to purchase. I'm presuming a light cube and some lights?

Any recommendations on further equipment such as lenses would also be beneficial.

Many thanks.

Chris

Light cube/tent + continuous light is good starting point for still life. :) Easy to learn as what you see is what you get, only downside will be very long exposures to get large depth of field and low iso. :)

It depends on the quality needed and the type of shots needed. If all that you want to do is to show what the products look like then yes, a light tent will do the job - but the results will be bland.

If you want to produce shots that show the products at their best, and sell them, you need to learn about lighting and get the equipment needed for proper still life photography.
