Yes
I'm really hoping that one of you pro-IT-bods may be able to help me out of a pickle I've got myself in.
In what was perhaps not my finest moment I managed to snap the key to the server cabinet door at work, and then proceeded to also snap the spare key too! Anyway, I can't see any manufacturer's name on the cabinet and I've got no idea where to even look to find a replacement.
Can anyone point me in vaguely the right direction please?!

The back door is just a barrel lock like you describe, but on the front it's integrated into the handle :(

Squirt of WD40 then try to hook it out with a fine jigsaw (not hacksaw) blade?

What state are things in now? Is the key stuck in the lock? Is the cabinet locked? How quickly are you going to need to get in? can you get in from the back?

The door is unlocked and the key out of it - phew!! And if I hold the broken end of the key I can actually still lock/unlock it.
I've got the key in two pieces but unfortunately it doesn't have any markings on it.

Local locksmith can probably duplicate the key in minutes - but please don't ask "Do you cut keys?" as you walk in

Sound good, I didn't think they'd be able to if it's broken! I guess you mean a proper locksmith rather than some key cutting place like Timpsons though.

If you can get in it and it's a fairly generic key, then you could try this (probably best to OK with your boss first!).

Find another key that fits in the lock, it doesn't have to turn at this point, just fit.
Once you have a key remove the lock/handle from the cabinet, this is often just a nut on the inside, then remove the lock barrel from the handle, again often just a nut or circlip. With any luck you will now have a barrel and if you insert the replacement key some of the pins on the barrel will stick out, these are the things that stop it turning. With the key in the barrel file down the pins, the repalcement key should now open the lock.

Reassemble and test...

or get another barrel key combo!

I'll take the screwdriver to it later this afternoon and see what I can do.
Thanks everyone, I may be back with more questions later!

Someone did exactly this to my server cabinet.
I removed the remains of the key and took both parts of the key to the local key cutting shop. They were able to make a duplicate key for me which worked perfectly in the existing lock.
